Rodan + Fields is launching an exciting new product design to help you unlock your best skin yet. Exfoliation is the key to a smooth, radiant complexion, and Rodan + Fields’s Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel ($100), which launches July 6, will help you get there.

Dullness, pores, uneven texture, dark spots, and acne are no match for this serum. It features a myriad of potent skin-care ingredients, including the brand’s own proprietary ProAcid Enzyme Complex, which blends papaya enzyme, glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid. And yet, my skin tolerated it like a dream.

Unlike some peels, this one can be used up to three times a week and was formulated to be safe for all skin tones. To learn more about this transformative Rodan + Fields innovation, keep scrolling as I share my full review.

About the Rodan + Fields Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel

  • The key active ingredients in this serum are papaya enzyme, glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid.

  • It targets dullness, texture, signs of aging, and tone.
  • Though it’s formulated for all skin tones, it’s not suitable for those with sensitive skin.
  • The bottle is recyclable and made from 50 percent post-consumer recycled material.

What I Like About the Rodan + Fields Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel

I make sure to incorporate some light exfoliation into my skin-care routine every week (at least). It keeps my pores clear and my complexion looking bright and glass-like. So I jumped at the opportunity to try the Rodan + Fields Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel. It has a blend of glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid, as well as papaya enzyme and bakuchiol (a plant-based retinol alternative), to melt away dead skin cells and reveal new skin underneath. Additionally, there’s also niacinamide for added brightening benefits, and licorice root essence to balance it all out with its soothing, anti-inflammatory properties.

I always exercise caution when testing a new exfoliant just on the off chance that it’s too strong for me, but I found myself pleasantly surprised at how tolerable the Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel was. Don’t get me wrong: it packs a punch but in a totally inoffensive way. I will qualify that by saying that I use retinol every other night and am no newbie when it comes to chemical exfoliants, but still, I didn’t experience any of the uncomfortable spicinesses that occasionally comes with this product category. This is likely thanks to the licorice root essence in the formulation, which helps soothe the skin.

Though it’s called a “peel,” it’s not like the chemical treatments you get at the dermatologist’s office. This at-home peel can be left on after you apply it (no need to rinse), similar to a serum.

How to Use the Rodan + Fields Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel

The brand recommends you use the Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel up to three times a week at night only. But at first, you should stick with once a week and work your way up. After cleansing your face, apply two to three pumps all over your face, neck, and chest, then let it sink in for a minute or two before applying your moisturizer. As with any exfoliant, be sure to wear SPF in the morning as acids can leave your skin more sensitive to the sun. You should also avoid putting it on your eye area.

I like to wash my face and use a hydrating toner to start. Then, I go in with a hydrating serum that will moisturize and soothe my skin, as well as act as a cushion for the following peel. Once the first serum has fully absorbed, I apply three pumps of Rodan + Fields’s Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel all over and let that sink in. Last but not least, I use a rich moisturizer to lock everything in.

What to Consider Before Trying the Rodan + Fields Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel

There are a couple of things you’ll want to take into consideration before adding this skin-care treatment to your routine. First, the brand doesn’t recommend the peel for sensitive skin, so if you fall into this category, you’ll want to steer clear. (Conducting a patch test before diving in is always a good idea to determine whether or not your skin can tolerate a product.)

When applying it, take care to avoid the delicate skin around your eyes to avoid irritation. If you’re already using an exfoliant in your skin-care routine, you’ll either need to stop using the existing product or alternate. Layering acids at the same time is not recommended.

Is the Rodan + Fields Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel Worth the Splurge?

The Rodan + Fields Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel is priced at $100 — it’s not the most expensive serum out there, but it’s also not cheap. If you’re looking to target wrinkles and fine lines, dullness, pores, and discoloration, it may be a worthy investment in your routine. Because you only need two pumps three times a week, the bottle should last you a while.

Where Is the Rodan + Fields Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel Available?

Like all Rodan + Fields products, the Multi-Acid Enzyme Peel is only available through the brand’s site and its consultants. The treatment launches on July 7, 2023, to consultants and on July 13 to all customers at RodanandFields.com.
